Parade, Derby, Fireworks, Oh My!

Every year for the Fourth of July we go to Delta. They have a parade in the morning and to start off the parade they always have a group of jets do a fly by.  Ethan was so excited that he could actually see the jets because they fly low over the parade route.  At our house we always hear a lot of jets (from Nellis Air Force Base in Vegas) fly by but they are always too high for us to see them. He was jumping up and down and pointing them out to me just in case I had missed them. There is also a big gas tanker plane that flies behind them because I guess they do it all over the state during the holiday. I think Ethan might have liked the huge plane even better than the jets.

This is Jake and baby Jackson, Hayden (Jake’s littlest cousin), Brett and baby Quinton, and Ethan waiting for the parade and jets. Ethan is definitely not a morning person (probably because I’m not either) so he was a little grumpy until things got started.

This is all the cousins after the parade in their matching shirts. As you can see from the full sack Hayden has, we got tons of candy. I guess when you have a bunch of cute little kids you tend to get lots of candy!

Aren’t we so patriotic in our red, white, and blue shirts!

After the derby we went back to Jake’s parents house to watch the city fireworks and do some of our own. It was Ethan’s first time doing sparklers and of course he was a little nervous (and so were we). After the first one he must’ve decided it was cool because he wanted to do more but he never moved his arm and just held it straight out in front of him the entire time.

He did seem a little confused about where the sparkles went after it was all burned out!

Stuff, Stuff, and more Stuff…

Every time we move I cannot believe how much stuff (or shiz as my sister so fondly refers to it) we have. I thought we had already taken a bunch of stuff to the new house so that when my family came it would be just finishing up and taking over all the heavy stuff. Boy was I wrong! I spent the majority of the day packing while my family hauled everything from one house to the other. Unfortunately it just happened to be one of the hottest weekends we have had so far, and the air conditioning wasn’t hooked up yet. But thankfully we made it through and got almsot everything moved in one day. Everyone was a big help. Even the little kids got in on the packing and moving. Ashton helped my mom pack up stuff in the kitchen, Cayden and Caitlin helped me put all the stuff from the computer room into some small boxes, and Ethan loved carrying the boxes in and out of the houses. It was great to have everyone down here (except uncle Matthew who had to work at one of his many jobs) and it was great to not have to move all of our junk stuff by ourselves. Here are a few pictures of the house after my family had left on Sunday.

Living room (somewhere in there)

Ethan’s room (most of his stuff was stacked in the closet)

Master bedroom (a lot of stuff still at the old house)

Computer room

 It was a looong weekend.

What you aren’t seeing in these pictures is all the boxes and stuff that are stacked in the spare rooms upstairs, and our beds, clothes, and all the small stuff that was still left at the old house. Every time we move I try to get rid of a lot of things but some how more stuff just keeps accumulating!!

We’re here!

Yea! I finally have the internet back! While we were in the process of moving we lost our internet due to our computer stuff being at the new house and our internet connection still running to the old house. But our wonderful phone/internet company came Friday afternoon and got us all hooked up. We called them on Thursday afternoon and they said they could be here Monday, but then they were in the area and just decided to stop by real quick. Unfortunately I seem to have misplaced my camera somewhere in the move. so when I find it I will post some pictures. Also, as of today we are actually living her legally so that is a good thing too. We are still waiting on our water heater because the shipment was “delayed” due to “weather conditions” blah blah blah.  This means that although all our stuff is here and we are living (sleeping, eating, etc.) here, we still have to go back to our rental house to take a shower. It kind of sucks but it could definitely be worse so I will take what I can get. The county inspector finally gave in and gave us a thirty day temporary permit so hopefully it will be here before then! A big thank you to my family who came down and helped us move all our stuff into the “big house” as Ethan calls it. It was very much appreciated since we seem to have a lot of furniture that isn’t what you would call light. And also thanks to Jake’s parents (especially his dad) who put in a lot of weekends down here helping us build the house. I can’t believe we are finally in, even if it isn’t quite done. Yea!!!
